FAQs
1. How does the Powergate 4 work?
You connect the device to your vehicle's OBDII port and pair it via Bluetooth to the Powergate App on your smartphone. The app reads the ECU, sends it to a master tuner (via cloud), and allows you to download and write up to 4 modified files to your car. [1, 2]
2. Can I go back to the original settings?
Yes. The Powergate 4 stores your original factory map, allowing you to reflash your vehicle to its stock configuration at any time.
3. What vehicles are compatible?
The Powergate 4 covers a wide range of motorcycles via OBD connection. It is designed to work with most modern vehicles, though it is strongly recommended to check the specific compatibility list.
4. Do I need a laptop to use it?
No. The device links via Bluetooth to the mobile app (iOS and Android), eliminating the need for a laptop, though an internet connection is needed for the cloud services.
5. Is the process safe?
Yes, but you must ensure your battery voltage does not drop during the read/write process. It is highly recommended to use a battery stabilizer during these operations to avoid potential ECU damage.
6. Will this show up at the dealer?
The Powergate 4 is designed to minimize detection, but any ECU remapping can potentially be detected by dealer diagnostic systems during servicing.
7. How many vehicles can I map?
The Powergate 4 locks to the first vehicle it maps, meaning it is intended for a single vehicle at a time.
8. What happens if I update my car's software at the dealer?
If a dealer overwrites your tuned map with a factory update, you can simply use the Powergate 4 to re-read the ECU and have your tuner re-apply the modifications.
9. What about insurance?
We advise that it is your responsibility to tell your insurance company of any modification to your vehicle.
10. Will it void a manufactureres warranty?
Please speak to your dealer you purchased the motorcycle from.
